BISHOP T.D. JAKES TO CELEBRATE A COMMENCEMENT OF HEALING SERVICE FOR AURORA, ONE YEAR LATER
The Potter’s House of Denver’s Pastor Dr. Chris Hill to host a special service;
American Idol’s George Huff to introduce special song of hope
DENVER, JULY 5, 2013 — One year after the Aurora Tragedy, Dr. Chris Hill, senior pastor of The Potter’s House of Denver, is celebrating the community’s recovery and resilience.
Dr. Hill, who became a voice of healing and reason immediately following the Aurora massacre with free grief counseling and daily and around-the-clock prayer vigils to the broader Denver community, continues his hands-on focus on community uplift.
As part of the church’s mission to offer a “hand of help to hurting people,” Dr. Hill will bring in his mentor, Bishop T.D. Jakes, to bring a message of corporate healing during “A Service of Prayer for Peace: A Commemoration of the 1st Anniversary Aurora Theatre Tragedy” on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 6:30p at The Potter’s House of Denver located at 9495 E. Florida Avenue, Denver, CO 80247.
“Aurora means “dawn” or morning,” said Dr. Hill, “Our goal is to offer an oasis of comfort and compassion to the City of Aurora, and help her move toward hope, healing and a brighter tomorrow.”
As part of the special services, American Idol finalist and member The Potter’s House family, George Huff, will sing a special song called “Crying Out for the Nations” with The Potter’s House of Denver’s Voices from the Mile High Choir. An added bonus, George Huff will also sing The Star Spangled Banner.
With nearly 60 percent of his members residing in Aurora, Colo. and many directly impacted by the tragedy, Dr. Hill has weathered the storm alongside the community and is hopeful.
